Welcome Rick Faeth!

Rick Faeth recently took the reins as the new promoter of ShastaRacewayPark. While most of us haven’t met him yet, we will see him on April 12th as we open the 2008 season. Here’s some autobiographical info he sent us so we’d know a little more about him.

My family and I had been lifelong residents of the Bay Area until 2006 when my wife Mary, daughter Gwen, and I relocated to Anderson.  I recently left my job of 11 years, where I was a test engineer for a biotech instrumentation manufacturer, to be the full time promoter of Shasta Raceway Park.

I have been involved in automobile racing 22 years.  My duties have included: mechanic, car owner, driver, and board of directors member.  I have raced, competitively, with the Bay Cities Racing Association since 1997 as a driver, and since 1998 as a car owner/driver.  In 2007 I finished a career best 9th in driver and 9th in the car owner point standings.

I have been elected three times and appointed once to the BCRA board of directors serving a three-year stint as the midget director, a two-year stint as secretary, and I am currently serving a two-year term as vice-president.  My duties with BCRA include signing tire agreements, researching insurance policies, booking races, scheduling a yearly golf tournament, helping to coordinate a hall of fame picnic, a yearly banquet, negotiating purses, meting out disciplinary action, and indoctrinating rule changes.  My experience within BCRA management has allowed me to witness first hand what it takes run a competitive traveling racing group. 

At the beginning of the 2007 racing season I personally negotiated a contract with DMS Race Products of Pittsburg, CA. to be a series sponsor for the midget division.  In 2001 I authored and published a 160-page book “The History of the Bay Cities Racing Association From 1990-2000” and to date have sold nearly 400 copies.
